"God Was There"

I created this from the story of a client who kept looking for God in the rubble of childhood neglect and abuse. I discovered it depicts every human heart when we are suffering.

To recover properly from human trauma, we need to know that our Father saw everything, knows everything and that we can trust Him. We need to know that He was there. We need to know that nothing has been unaccounted for and that no injustice has slipped past Him.

There are pieces in our history that can feel so damaged and defiled but God was always there. While He won't rewrite our history, He promises to heal it's effects and redeem our inherent right to good, safe love.

God has a way of making the crooked places in us straight in spite of the crookedness around us.

Though healing is free because of what Jesus paid, our desire and decision are an important part of the restoration process. We have to be so sick (sometimes literally) of being where we are, so defeated, that we are willing to let God take over the mess. Healing is not accomplished through wishful thinking, denial or having more faith ... it requires recognizing something is fractured, strongly wanting to be free and coming to the miraculous Cross of Christ for help. I don’t know of any other way of sustainable change to the human heart.
